Self-Care
Self-care, defined as the decisions or actions that the individual performs for the benefit of their own health, has a great importance for all people.
The self-care activities are aimed at the promotion of health and prevention of the disease, the management of small daily ailments, and the control or cure of diseases or chronic conditions.
Among the practices for self-care are: adequate food to the needs, hygienic measures, stress management, skills to establish social relationships and solve interpersonal problems, exercise and physical activity required, ability to adjust the consumption of medications, follow-up of prescriptions of health, safe sexual behaviors, recreation and free time management, dialogue, favorable adaptations to changes in the context, search for information and management of different signs and symptoms in diseases.
Self-care and learning: the family, the school, the social environment and the health personnel can favor and train people for greater and better self-care. Support groups, associations, institutions, scientific societies, provide more and more information that can be used for self-care. It is a voluntary process, but one that should be encouraged at all levels, including governments, and for all ages.
Finally this concept is very important to live a better life.
